We spent six months travelling and stored our gear in plastic crates inside our canopy. However, we found it challenging, especially when moving crates around. So, after we returned, we contacted GWorks in Port Macquarie, who built our canopy, to ask about having them make drawers for our equipment. We are very pleased with the final result.
Next to our Bushman fridge, we have chosen a single drawer that includes a sliding table, measuring 520 mm wide x 830 mm deep x 300 mm high.
The driver's side of the canopy has two single drawers, each measuring 670 mm wide, 815 mm deep, and 300 mm high.
We've also installed a drop shelf above the drawers for extra storage of flat items, such as our water bladder and yabby nets. Our Stone Stomper is stored there as well, until needed.
The drawers are made from 3mm 5052-grade aluminium with 225kg heavy-duty drawer slides, and their tops include integrated tie-down points.
In addition to having key lockable compression locks, the drawers are part of a modular system, allowing individual units to be removed or repositioned inside the canopy. The three drawers also feature powder-coated faceplates.
